Who am I?
I have been a resident of Enfield since 2001, am a Politics, Philosophy and History graduate and have two decades of community organising experience. I stand against scapegoating of working class communities and migrants- I will fight to uphold the unity of people and defend their rights to access improved social support!
My day work is as a Window Surveyor and I have a keen interest in self-development through web development and programming, I am married and a dad to a toddler.
Why am I standing?
As a local resident, I have lived experience of the countless issues currently impacting the local living standards which the people of Enfield face.
Since 2001, I have witnessed how the environment has changed; how local residents’ living standards have deteriorated. Whilst cost of living continues to increase year on year, Enfield Council’s policies have done little to challenge the crisis facing residents; the council leadership as well as the main opposition talk about being on the side of working people.
However, they continue to vote for the highest council tax increase, vote to close libraries, vote to make cuts to our public services without challenging central government, underfund youth services and overlook housing needs for Enfield’s residents whilst paving the way for private housing construction like Meridian Water, which has drained the finances out of the Council with unnecessary bureaucracy.
Why is it important to vote ECI in these elections?
Because Enfield's problems are both national and local, opposing austerity and local council budget cuts as well as the privatisation of our public services is a key factor in supporting the better living standards of Enfield residents.
Seeing the destructive consequences of these policies and of the cost-of-living crisis on local working class communities, increasing local welfare support and access to services is therefore a priority for me.
Local people need more housing, council tax support, together with help with disability issues, food and energy costs and afterschool services.
ECI is an important platform for voicing the concerns of local residents, challenging the mainstream parties on local issues such as bin collections, a cleaner environment and unethical construction planning, and bringing together communities under banner of unity and solidarity for better welfare for all.
